Kevin
(aka: Drummer)
Kevin
knew he wanted to play drumset at a very young age. He received
his first drumset and Led Zeppelin album at age 6 and began private
study at age 10. He played in every school band while focusing most
of his attention on rock and roll drumset. His influences included:
Led Zeppelin, Rush, Genesis and The Rolling Stones.
Kevin left his hometown to play in several bands before going to
college for music. He further developed his skills by taking on
mallet percussion and intensively studying jazz drumset and music
theory. From there, he fell in love with funk/soul music...not only
listening to it, but playing it. His new influences were: James
Brown, Maceo Parker, Grant Green, Tower of Power and The Meters.
He moved to Philadelphia with a mission to meet other musicians
and develop a music network. Kevin began playing and recording with
some of the best players Philly had to offer. He left that scene
to join a Dave Matthews Tribute band which lasted a couple years.
He needed a change of scene and luckily 39 Mariner was in need of
a drummer.
Kevin not only found complete playing satisfaction in 39 Mariner,
he also made new best friends. His new musical goals are to play
music on stage and have fun at the same time. Mariner completes
that goal.
Check out Kevin's funk band, Dr.
Ketchup.
